Our WRETCHED Press Corps -- Exhibit A -- The New York Times 3/22/04 I'm not even going to both to cite crap because guess what I'M NOT A JOURNALIST, as anyone reading this blog can state -- my literacy is even open to question. But the NY Times assigned long-time White House Iraq flogger JUDITH MILLER to the Richard Clarke story. Again, ME not a journalist, she is. Miller trampsed about Iraq in the weeks following the war and posted one erroneous story after another alleging one WMD storage and research facility after another -- during the war she was going all GI JANE. In short, she was an embarassment. So here she is now writing on Clarke and LET US look at the detailed nature of her reporting and "all the facts fit to print" as pointed out by Leszek Pawlowicz in Billmon's comments section (all props go to him, not me, I'm just copying what he wrote. [Article and Comments found here: http://billmon.org/archives/001249.html#comments]) From the 3/22/04 NY Times Judith Miller article on the Clarke interview: "In an interview Sunday night, Brian Roehrkasse, a spokesman for the department, denied that Mr. Ridge was against the creation of the department, and said that the department did not have to go through any more clearance with the White House than other cabinet departments." From GovExec.com, 5/30/02: " Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge said Thursday he would advise President Bush to veto any legislation creating a congressionally authorized Office of Homeland Security if Congress approves a bill this year." http://www.govexec.com/dailyfed/0502/053002cd1.htm THIS is what passes as journalism. And, of course, this site is what passes as blogging. Disgusting isn't it? UPDATE: Thanks again to Leszek, the first copied paragraph has been altered to now read: "In an interview Sunday night, Brian Roehrkasse, a spokesman for the department, denied that." What the?
