This sounds familiar "Well, one, we didn't put together just the coalition of the willing. A coalition is always a coalition of the willing. And this particular coalition of the willing now has 47 nations; 47 nations are openly members of the coalition, and have asked to be identified with this effort. And there are many other nations that for a variety of reasons don't want to be publicly identified, but are also a part of the coalition of the willing." -- Colin Powell interview March 26, 2003. http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2003/19072.htm Now a few days ago we had this: "Secretary of State Colin Powell on Sunday challenged Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry to name the foreign leaders whom the Massachusetts senator claims want him as the next US president" http://www.brunei-online.com/bb/tue/mar16w20.htm But we all know that Powell, in his own words, doesn't play politics. Riiiiiiiight. Forget for a moment that Kerry was quoted incorrectly, it is at heart, another example (Exhibit ZZZZ-12,450 perhaps?) of the Bush Administrations hypocrisy.
