Teapot Chrome Dome About 40 Million people hate to say I told you so, but we all told you so. Dick Cheney, not only has the anti-midas touch, he is a lying douchebag (has Jon Stewart patented that already?) to boot. From the Los Angeles Times' T. Christian Miller:
Pentagon officials have acknowledged that Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff and other Bush administration political appointees were involved in a decision to pay Halliburton Inc. to plan for the postwar recovery of Iraq's oil sector, a Democratic lawmaker said Sunday. The decision, overruling the recommendations of an Army lawyer, eventually resulted in the award of a $7 billion no-bid contract to Halliburton, which Cheney ran for five years before he was nominated for vice president... Cheney repeatedly has denied that he had any influence over the decision to award the massive contract in March. ``The policy of this office always has been and continues to be that if a staff member is approached with information about a pending government contract for Halliburton, the standard response is to state that we don't get involved in those decisions and do whatever is best for the country,'' a Cheney aide said Sunday.
