This Day in History and its "Relevance" to today While the Bush Administration demonstrates further "W"incompetence by bombarding around the holiest sites in Shiia Islam (the equivalent of bombing Vatican City, but only occasionally dinging St. Peter's and the Papal Residence now and then) our Crusader-in-Chief might want to reflect upon a significant event which happened on this day 713 years ago. ...fortunately for him, and unfortunately for us, our Chimperor is not a reflective man... On May 18, 1291, Acre, the last territory in Palestine taken by the first Crusaders, fell to invading Moslem armies. It signalled the end of a Christian "military presence" in the Near East. Self-Explanatory no?
