Bringing Back the Timeless Classics Going retro has been a fairly staple product of our popular culture since Fonzie switched from blue cloth to leather (aaaaaaaaaayyyee!), but thinking that padded shoulders and tie width are just not enough, the new trend is to go back to some real nostalgia. Crusading had a good run, being popular for a couple of centuries, but it sort of went out of fashion when the Doge of Venice, Enrico Dandolo, told a group of crusaders, "Hey the holy land is nice and all, but I'd really like some cool Byzantine Gold Horses" (that's two straight posts with historical gags, it's like a bad Black Adder script). But if you are going to think big, why not reach back a good way...coming soon, the 2050's, Black Death II: Electric Boogaloo. It's been often written that Usama Bin Laden (he's back by the way and crazier than ever) fancies himself a modern Saladin. Of course, unlike Saladin, Usama is, oh how do you say it....oh yes, Batshit Insane. But switching from the insane to the mundane, Bush appears to be embracing the role of Urban II. Anybody have any interstellar travel plans? This planet is getting too hot for my taste.
